Fairy Tales

Fairy tales are an important part of every culture. They help shape the way we think about the world, how we explain why things are and how we should act. Two important sources of traditional tales come from the greek storyteller Aesop and the german Brothers Grimm.

Read a few of the fairy tales from Aesop and the Grimm brothers and then post a comment about what you read. Are the tales you read similar to ones from your own culture? Do you agree with the moral of the story?

Some of the stories have an audio link. Try it out, but keep the sound down!

Androcles. The message of this fable is "Gratitude is the sign of noble souls". Also, I think that to be a thankful person, still in too difficult circumstances, let become your "possible" enemies in friends. (That's the second message of this fable)

The Lioness
It is a story for those who like disputing with their friends. It is specially true if you like arguing with others. This story takes place in the reality of humans life. Most of you have to change your attitude if you want to be worthy. You should give your friends your appreciation because they have a good heart.

Rapunzel
Yay! "Let down thy hair to me" It sounds like what I've read before when i was a kid. Rapunzel, beautiful kid was shut in a tower by the enchantress. Fortunately, the King's son heard Rapunzel's song. The love began!!!
---> This is a sweet story :P

I read about a "Little snow-white". This tale exists in my country with the same moral. "The god always wins". I`m not sure, but certainly envy (the other main message) is very dangerous.

MOTHER HOLE.
Memory of History:

The legend speaks about two girls who have different characters. One of whom was pretty and industrious, whilst the other was ugly and idle. They lived with their mother. She (their mother) was much fonder of the ugly and idle one, because she was her own daughter; and the other, who was a step-daughter, was obliged to do all the work, and be the Cinderella of the house.

One day, the pretty and industrious girl had the opportunity to work for Mother Holle (who had such large teeth) to help her to make my bed well. But one day, she wanted to go home. Before she went home, he got rewards for her work (golden). The other girl wanted to do the same. But she was very idle, so, when you came back to her house, she didn’t get gold because she didn’t do anything for Mother Holle.
